  • Q: How do I fix a cupped tabletop?

    Hello everyone,

I guess I made a rookie mistake by taking too heavy a cut on my benchtop planer while surfacing a nice wide cherry board for a tabletop. I set the depth gauge wrong and instead of taking off 1/8 of an inch - I took off probably about twice that much. In planing off all that wood at once, it looks like the tension inside the board just sprung - causing my beautiful 12-in. wide board to cup. I don't want to buy another board - is there anything I can do to help minimize the cup? I was hoping to glue this board to another one in order to make a wider top.

    Thanks!

    Edward
